World Book Day

March 4th is World Book Day.

What does that mean?

World Book Day is a charity which aims to change lives through a love of books and shared reading.

World Book Day works in partnership with National Book Tokens and book publishers and book sellers.  It works with schools all over the country to distribute more than 15 million (yes, you read that correctly, 15 MILLION)  £1 (or €1.50 in Ireland) World Book Day book tokens to children and young people.

The £1 (or €1.50) book tokens can then be swapped for one of the FREE World Book Day books available from participating booksellers or used to get £1 (or €1.50) any full price book or audiobook instead.  The full price of the book or  audiobook must be at least £2.99 (or €3.99 in Ireland).

In a normal year, World Book Day book tokens would be valid until Sunday 28 March 2021. As 2021 is very far from being a normal year, participating booksellers will honour the tokens after this date – but only while stocks last, so don’t leave it too long.

The £1/€1.50 FREE World Book Day books are also available in braille, large print & audio via Guide Dogs and RNIB.
